Is it stain or is it paint on this table?

So I picked this table up off of a Facebook classifieds. It wasn't a great picture so I wasn't sure about the color or the shape really but it was $20 and I though what the heck and went for it. So I met the lady and picked up my table. When I got it home I realized a couple things. First it was in really good shape. Second it had a drawer (happy surprise) and third it was this really odd shade of brown. Ok so that was three things. I honestly could not tell whether it was stained or painted. I have never run across that before. Well I didn't want to take the time to strip the paint so I started sanding the top down so that I could stain it. I sanded as much as I could but it seemed like whatever was used on it had soaked clear through the wood. After it was kind of streaked with red and brown so I decided to just go with it. I stained the top with a dark stain. I wiped it down and put on a few coats of stain and one coat of poly. The bottom part I mixed up some DIY chalk paint and had it done in two light coat. It took no time to dry and was so easy to distress I didn't even use my sander. The inside of the drawer I painted a really light blue and put the knobs it came with back on. Now this baby is ready to be sold to a new home. I hope someone enjoys this. Here it is..
